April 2024 Update


After last update I continued to work on the Field tileset.


It took me a few days but I got most of the tiles I needed for a vary basic two grass types and blend tiles. More variations may come later, but this will suffice for now.

After making the tiles I started to make a Homestead level and Field level.



The Homestead level was kind of bland so I added a path tiles to the tileset, then realized I was using the base tiles of version 1… So I had to remake all the path tiles again with version 2 grass tiles. Thankfully I just had to update the image on my tiles and Godot updated the already placed tiles.


I cleaned up the Player house tile so the dirt near the door blended in the path tiles better. Then finished up with the homestead level.




After more or less building the first area for the Field level, I started working on custom resource nodes for this tileset. I began with the stone node and managed to get all the animations made and printed. I plan to recycle the code and whatnot from the field stone node.

I'll continue to work on prop tiles to give the landscape a little more 'color' after I get the resource nodes done.


Anyway, same song and dance as the last month. Other than the major CC shenanigans trying to end my whole (future) career (see previous post), my life has been one ‘Empire Strikes Back’ moment after another. Thankfully I’ve lived long enough to know that these kind of thing sort themselves out eventually. But right now, life is kind of shit.

Suffice to say I’m not happy with my productivity this month. But at least I got some work done.
