My progress has been a little slower lately as I've started treading into territory that I'm unfamiliar with.


This update doesn't bring a lot in terms of appeal, but it dose touch on some very important mechanics like inventory and drop systems.  I also touched on a save system, and although I have yet to implement it in this project, I don't see it being a problem to implement.  I placed some sprites on the map around the player to test the drop script.  Push enter to simulate a drop chance.


I wanted to take a break from working on the inventory system (and save system) because I'm still feeling my way around on what stats I want this game to have.


A different type of enemy was added in this release and will be used to test different kinds of damage.  This enemy is a melee kind and I also implemented the nav 2D node so the enemy can find its way around.  The minotaur enemy will now move and chase the player around within a certain radius.


A lot of fat was trimmed off this time around, so there is great savings in terms of ram.  It was a good idea to make a prototype because now I have an idea how much animation I can give each character, which will be important later on.


I added more functionality to the HUD and trimmed off information that I felt wasn't necessary.  The accuracy was removed as I originally planned to give a penalty for moving while shooting, but ditched this idea in favor of more fluid gameplay.  I'll still use the mechanics to simulate different types of firing patterns for different weapons, may even introduce a de-buff that lowers accuracy.  An info panel was added to the HUD, to inform the player what kind of weapon they are 'looking' at and a summary of stats before picking it up.  It's pretty basic right now, but I'll refine it later.  There is also a new stat called magic damage, that will be implemented later


I've decided to make a collage of things I changed and added, I thought it would be a good idea since Itch allows it. (see: added picture on this devlog)
