Dec 2023 Update

After finally getting the Android version out, I turned my attention to working on the shop mechanics.

I didn’t feel like displaying the long winded version notes with my in game avatar (that will be serving shop keep) so I made a sprite for the shop and a separate billboard sprite for version notes.

Programming was starting to get to me, so instead of working on the shop mechanics I began working on extending the homestead tile set. I finally got around to make a cliff tile that will be used to prevent the player from going into the endless beyond.

The players home was the next art asset that I addressed. I didn’t like how pristine look of the outside so I added some grime and weeds. I think I may have overdid it a little, but I’ll live with it for the time being. After I touched up the outside I took the blend file that I used for the exterior and modified it to be used as the inside.

With the house art assets done I worked on a way to transition from the outside of the house to the inside. I somehow ended up breaking the fade in and fade out, so I reworked the way I did it and it appears to be fixed now.

Now that the house was done, I turned my attention to the various icons in the wheel menu. None of them look premium, but they still match the art style, so they should suffice for now.

I finally decided it was time to attack the enemy AI, and as expected the enemy AI gave me some trouble. I think I worked out most of the bugs in it. At some point I will have to rewrite/restructure most of the AI, but for now all that bubblegum seems to be working (somewhat).

The new title splash screen took me a full day to make. I’m bound to go back to it and polish it up before v1.00, but this is much better than that crappy BG I had in the previous versions. I also rebuilt the option on the splash screen. Needless to say I will redo this when I implement the save system and options.

There are a few other things that I worked on, and a somewhat big announcement that I hope to share with all of you next update. (Assuming there are no delays)

Until then, have fun and have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays.
